From 2nd to 6th December 2024, Level 01 Quantity Surveying undergraduates from the Department of Building Economics participated in a five-day surveying camp at the Southern Campus of Kotelawala Defence University in Sooriyaweva. This learning experience offered students hands-on training in ordinary levelling, theodolite surveying, and total station surveying. The camp was facilitated by the Department of Spatial Sciences at Kotelawala Defence University, whose instructors provided expert guidance. Through practical exercises and interactive demonstrations, the undergraduates developed a deeper understanding of surveying tools, techniques, and the importance of accurate data collection in the construction industry. They also gained valuable exposure to modern surveying equipment, enabling them to apply theoretical knowledge to real-life scenarios. By enhancing their technical competencies and teamwork skills, this initiative helps prepare them for future professional challenges in the field of quantity surveying. It was an enriching experience for all participants.
