On the 28th of March 2025, Level 1 Quantity Surveying undergraduates of the Department of Building Economics participated in a thought-provoking guest lecture titled “Who is a Quantity Surveyor”, delivered by Ch.QS Mr. Tissa Edirisinghe.
As students begin their academic journey in quantity surveying, the session served as an essential foundation to understand the scope, responsibilities, and significance of the profession within the construction industry. The session provided a comprehensive overview of the role of a quantity surveyor, highlighting key areas such as feasibility analysis, cost planning, estimation, procurement and contract administration. This introductory guest lecture was a timely and inspiring step forward in helping Level 1 students lay a strong foundation for their future development as construction professionals.
