In his session titled “Recipe for Success: A Seven-Point Model for Building a Meaningful Career,” Professor Ruwanpura shared perspectives drawn from his extensive experience in academia, industry, and leadership roles. The presentation introduced a seven-point framework outlining key attributes that contribute to long-term professional success. Professor Ruwanpura emphasized that meaningful careers are shaped through deliberate effort, continuous learning, and strong personal leadership rather than chance. Participants were encouraged to look beyond academic achievement and technical competence, recognizing the importance of adaptability, communication skills, resilience, and self-awareness. The 94th BEMRU Colloquium, held on 26 February 2026, featured Ch.QS. Vijitha Disaratna, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Building Economics. His session, titled “Investing in Shares,” focused on introducing participants to the fundamentals of stock market investment and financial decision-making. Through practical examples, participants gained insights into how disciplined investment strategies and informed decision-making can contribute to long-term financial stability and wealth creation. Emphasis was placed on the importance of developing financial awareness early in one’s career, as well as adopting responsible practices such as conducting thorough research, diversifying investments, and managing risks effectively. Both colloquia concluded with engaging discussions where participants shared their perspectives and raised questions on career development and investment strategies. These sessions reaffirm BEMRU’s commitment to fostering intellectual engagement and providing students with knowledge that supports both professional growth and informed personal decision-making.
