Inaugural Lecture by Professor Menaha Thayaparan Highlights the Role of Education in Disaster Resilience

Professor Menaha Thayaparan of the Department of Building Economics conducted her inaugural lecture titled "Achieving Disaster Resilience Through Education and Collaboration" on the 28th of March 2025. The lecture was conducted in hybrid mode, with participants joining both via Zoom and in person at the Faculty of Graduate Studies Boardroom.
In her insightful presentation, Professor Thayaparan explored the critical role that education play in building disaster-resilient communities. Drawing from her extensive academic and research experience, she emphasized the importance of integrating disaster risk reduction into educational curricula and the need for strong partnerships among academic institutions, industry, and policymakers to effectively respond to and recover from disasters.
