The Department of Building Economics organised two insightful guest lectures for Level 4 undergraduates, aimed at bridging academic learning with practical industry applications.
The first guest lecture, held on 11th July 2025, brought together both Quantity Surveying and Facilities Management undergraduates. Associate Professor Panos Psimoulis, Associate Professor in Geospatial Engineering at the University of Nottingham, delivered a session on “Advancements of Surveying and Applications in Architecture and Civil Engineering.” The lecture explored emerging developments in surveying and highlighted their applications across related disciplines, offering students a global perspective on technological integration in the built environment.
The second guest lecture, conducted on 19th July 2025, was specifically tailored to Quantity Surveying undergraduates. Ch.QS. Tilanka Wijesinghe, Head of the Department of Quantity Surveying at the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology, delivered a session on “Preparation of Cash Flow for a Construction Project.” The lecture provided students with practical insights into managing project finances and translating theoretical knowledge into effective cost planning.
Both sessions were well received by the students, offering valuable exposure to industry practices and enhancing their academic learning with practical relevance.
