On 13th December 2024, the Department of Building Economics held a virtual guest lecture for final-year Quantity Surveying and Facilities Management students. The session took place via the ZOOM platform. Mr. Anupam Saxena, Head of Early Engagement at RICS, and Mr. Aashik Alawdeen, President of the Institute of Facilities Management Sri Lanka, led the event. During the lecture, students learned about the role and significance of RICS , the benefits of obtaining membership, and the various pathways to achieving it. The presenters provided valuable insights into how RICS membership can enhance professional credibility, expand networking opportunities, and support career growth. Overall, the event offered a comprehensive overview of RICS and served as an excellent platform for students to gain knowledge about international professional standards and avenues for professional development.
