Final-Year QS Undergraduates Explore Infrastructure Projects in Trincomalee and Kanthale On 3rd and 4th November 2024, final-year Quantity Surveying undergraduates from the Department of Building Economics visited Trincomalee and Kanthale to gain firsthand exposure to major infrastructure projects. Their itinerary included the Trincomalee Harbour and the Kanthale Water Treatment Plant. The students had the opportunity to study how large-scale facilities function in real-world conditions by examining construction details and maintenance practices, . By seeing these structures in their operational stages, students gained valuable perspectives on lifecycle costs, sustainable practices, and the importance of accurate forecasting. This practical exposure to completed facilities will help them better understand the long-term implications of construction decisions, equipping them with insights essential for their future roles as quantity surveyors in the industry.
