Exploring Real-World Applications: Quantity Surveying Students Embark on Trincomalee Field Visit

Level 2 students in the Quantity Surveying program recently took part in a field visit to Trincomalee on 10th and 11th of September, 2023. The field visit aimed to provide these students with firsthand exposure to real-world applications in their field.

On the first day, students explored the Water Treatment Plant in Kantale, gaining insights into the intricate details of the water treatment process and the crucial role of quantity surveyors in infrastructure projects. The second day led them to the Tokyo Eastern Cement Company in China Bay, Trincomalee, offering a practical glimpse into the dynamics of the construction industry.

This field visit is expected to enhance the students' understanding of theoretical concepts by bridging the gap between classroom learning and practical implementation. The Department of Building Economics remains dedicated to fostering a well-rounded education for undergraduates, preparing them for the challenges and opportunities in their future professional endeavors.
