Prof. Nigel Weatherill, Vice Chancellor and the Chief Executive of Liverpool John Moores University, UK, visited University of Moratuwa on 04th May 2016 and signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the two universities. Further, Prof. Ahmed Al-Shamma’a, Executive Dean-Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Dr. (Ms.) Alison Cotgrave and Dr. (Ms.) Anupa Manewa, Lecturers attached to the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Liverpool John Moores University delegated the event. Prof. K.K.C.K. Perera, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, University of Moratuwa, chaired the event. Prof. Gihan Dias, Director-International Relations, Dr. Yasangika Sandanayake, Head, Department of Building Economics, and the Faculty participated in the event.
Subsequently, an important discussion was made on future potential collaboration related to the partnership comprising of study abroad opportunities, student exchange programme, research and scholarly activities, staff training programmes and joint conference. The discussions between the parties led to an effective collaboration and directed to carry out future projectinfluencing win-win situation strategically, realizing the allied benefits of the potential collaboration is not far away from the universities’ strive.
