The 90th colloquium organized by the Building Economics and Management Research Unit (BEMRU) was held virtually via Zoom on 22nd May 2025. The session featured Associate Professor Samad Sepasgozar from the School of Built Environment, University of New South Wales, as the guest speaker. Titled “Crafting Impactful Book Chapters: Blending Local Expertise with Global Trends and Evidence-Based Practices”, the session provided a practical guide for writing scholarly book chapters in areas such as sustainability, innovation, construction, facilities management, building, and quantity surveying.
Associate Professor Sepasgozar highlighted the significance of book authorship in strengthening academic careers, enhancing international visibility, and contributing to Sri Lanka’s leadership in sustainable development and technological advancement. He also outlined key steps in developing book chapters and the process of publishing with leading academic publishers. The session was well attended by academic staff and postgraduate students of the Department of Building Economics, allowing for valuable discussions on research dissemination and international academic engagement.
