Asia’s First Lunar City Model Command Interface Launched by Rusin Thathsara in Collaboration with Thurstan College

Rusin Thathsara, a Level 4 undergraduate of the Department of Building Economics and an alumnus of Sivali Central College, Ratnapura, first introduced his pioneering VIMANA Space City concept together with his colleague Sahan Dimuth in 2022. Building on that vision, he has now unveiled Sri Lanka’s first conceptual Lunar Space City Model, developed in collaboration with the students of Thurstan College, Colombo, as part of the KNIGHT-RO Astronomy Exhibition. A highlight of the exhibition was the introduction of Asia’s first Conceptual Lunar Space Control System, also designed by Thathsara. The model was ceremonially launched under the patronage of Defense Secretary, Former Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyiyakontha, and remained on public display for three consecutive days. The exhibition drew significant attention, with participation from distinguished guests such as renowned Sri Lankan astronomer Anura C. Perera and Thurstan College Principal Pramuditha Wickramasinghe, alongside thousands of students and astronomy enthusiasts from across the country.
