The 95th Colloquium of the Building Economics and Management Research Unit (BEMRU) of the Department of Building Economics, themed “Academic Excellence and Trajectories,” was held on 19th March 2026. The session was conducted by Professor Thayaparan Gajendran, Head of School and Dean, School of Architecture and Built Environment, The University of Newcastle, Australia. The colloquium focused on the ways in which academic excellence is shaped through intellectual curiosity, purposeful learning, and sustained engagement with scholarly activities. Professor Gajendran shared valuable insights into how academic paths evolve over time and how individuals develop their research interests, build expertise, and contribute meaningfully to knowledge within their respective disciplines. The discussion also explored the different trajectories that influence successful academic and professional journeys.
