Measuring Residences at Galle Fort, Sri Lanka

B.Arch Level One Studio
Measured Drawing Project

Galle Fort is one of the most celebrated UNESCO Living Heritage sites in Sri Lanka. It is one of the finest places to experience a range of architectural styles including Dutch-Ceylon hybrid architecture, British architecture, Art Deco, and post-colonial architecture, coexisting in a harmonious spatial composition. However, the Fort is also experiencing dramatic transformations in its social, and cultural phenomena due to popular architectural trends.

The B.Arch Level One studio of the Department of Architecture,University of Moratuwa, together with the Galle Heritage Foundation has embarked on a daunting task to document Residential architecture and streetscapes, for the first time after 1992 (published in Architecture of Ceylon). The project officially commenced on 1st July 2023 at Galle Fort with a briefing and site visit.
