July 2013 Presentation by Dr. Chandana (Chandi) Jayawardena on New Directions for Tourism in Sri Lanka

Dr. Chandana (Chandi) Jayawardena DPhil, MSc, CHE, FIH delivered a lecture in the Department of Architecture on the 25th of July on” New Directions for Tourism in Sri Lanka”. Dr. Jayawardena is the President of Chandi J. Associates Inc. Consulting, St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. Previously he was the Associate Dean of the Centre for Hospitality & Culinary Arts, George Brown College, Toronto, Canada and held professorships and visiting professorships in hospitality and tourism management in Canada, USA, UK, Switzerland, Jamaica, Guyana and Sri Lanka. He also held senior management positions in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, South America, the Caribbean and North America, including 12 years as the general manager of five premier hotels. He is a Past President of the world’s largest professional association for managers in the hospitality, leisure and tourism industry, His lecture was of immense relevance to the level 4 and level 5 students who were writing their dissertations on “Tourism” related topics. There was a good exchange of ideas between the students and Dr.Jayawardena who was willing to share his knowledge with students in their future research.
