On 27.09.22, the new facility of "Centre for Cities - UoM Urban research Lab" was inaugurated at the Department of Architecture. This centre is an interdisciplinary research arm, established in the University of Moratuwa and operating since 2018 and it is a facilitator in bridging the industry and academia to develop and integrate Urban Development and management strategies for the benefit of the society through effective urban governance for better urbanism.
The Centre- being one of the winning research projects of AHEAD DOR research grants in 2019- is now equipped with unique urban research instruments and required infrastructure facilities for research staff and activities.
Our sincere thanks to the Vice Chancellor, DVC, Dean/FGS and Dean/Archi and the UoM management staff, and - a big thank to AHEAD operations team, OTS director, OTS procurement team, works engineer and his team, Research Assistants, Core members of the Centre for your great assistance given to us to achieve our tasks, even during this difficult period and, for all the supports extended for the growth of the centre and its activities.
It is our hope that the centre will be able to play an active role in research and advice for good urbanism of Sri Lanka.
