Knowledge transfer from university to industry: Introducing bamboo as a construction material.
Collaborations between industry and academic institutions are a key aspect of commercializing innovations.
The B.Arch Level One studio had two such productive workshop sessions to disseminate knowledge on bamboo construction. A group of instructors and staff from the carpentry workshops in the Southern province (Galle, Matara and Hambanthota) attended workshops on the 19th of September and 14th of October 2023. The workshops focused on how to make five bamboo exhibition spaces for the Industrial Development Board (IDD) Bamboo exhibition to be held on the 3rd and 4th of December.
The workshop was coordinated by Ms. Dilini Tharaka Madushani (Development Officer - IDD) and Dr. Nadeeka Jayaweera (Senior Lecturer, Department of Architecture)
