Recently, University of Moratuwa students brought glory to our country by winning the premier international robot completion, INexus. The two University of Moratuwa student teams competed in the completion early this month and won the 1st place and the 3rd place, beating teams from Australia and India.

The paper describes the design and development of an alarm device that can disseminate disaster early warnings to threatened communities over the GSM network. The device is capable of generating audible, high-volume alarms, flashlights and turning on an in-built radio in response to a warning message from an authorized entity via GSM’s short message service (SMS) or cell broadcast (CB).

The students of University of Moratuwa made their alma mater proud again by winning the much coveted Imagine Cup Sri Lanka – 2012 challenge trophy after three long years. The last time where University of Moratuwa made this important feat by winning this imagine cup was in 2008.

The University of Moratuwa (UoM) recorded significant achievement when it was placed as the top University worldwide in terms of the number of awards received by students at the Google Summer of Code (GSoC) competitions from the inception in 2005 to 2009.

‘Are You Ready?’ organized by the Rotaract Club of University of Moratuwa in Collaboration with the Career Guidance Unit is the main event in the university calendar which adorns its careers’ week.
