Prof. Panchagnula met Prof. N. Wickramaarachchi, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Prof. Gihan Dias, Director, International Relations, Prof. J.M.S.J. Bandara, Head, Department of Civil Engineering and Ms. Y.S. Karunarathne, Assistant Registrar, External Affairs, Publicity and International Student Promotions Division for an initial discussion.
Prof. Chung-Che Chou, Associate Dean, College of Engineering, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Head, Building Engineering, National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering and Dr Wen-Cheng Liao, Associate Director, Center for South East Asia Education from National Taiwan University visited University of Moratuwa on 15th February 2019.
A team from the Deakin University, Australia, consisting of Prof K.Baskaran (Associate Dean – International & Partnerships, Faculty of Science Engineering and Built Environment), Associate Prof Lloyd Chua (Associate Head of Engineering - International), Associatate Prof Pubudu Pathirana (School of Engineering) and Ms Ruby Lee (Manager - International & Partnerships, Faculty of Science Engineering and Built Environment) were present at the University of Moratuwa on Wednesday, 30th January 2019 for a discussion with Prof P.K.S.
The Indian Government continuing its drive to promote international students to its country has launched a “Study in India” programme, where 160 registered Institutions are offering approximately 19,000 seats to prospective students to follow over 1500 courses of study. Of the positions available, over 9500 students could obtain fee waivers of up to 100%.
University of Moratuwa is considered the best technological university in Sri Lanka and is a highly sought after state university for higher education. The university’s overall employment ratio for all courses at the time of the convocation in 2018 was 92.6%. This figure is comparable with that of the best universities in the world.
Prof. Udaya Madawala who graduated from the University of Moratuwa in the late 1980s and is now an eminent Professor at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, an inventor, a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), among other achievements; was in Sri Lanka to deliver a keynote address at the IEEE conference and visited the University on 19th December 2018.
Prof. Shuang-Hua Yang, Associate Dean, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), Shenzhen Guandong, China called on the Vice Chancellor, Director/International Relations and Dean-Engineering on Monday, 10th December 2018 and had a very interesting discussion which is expected to lead to mutually beneficial collaborations for both SUSTech and UOM.
Professors Fan Zhijian(Vice Director/International Office), Miao Ruchang(Deputy Dean/College of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering), Wang Jiayan (Vice Dean/Graduate School) and Zhuwu Zhu (Assistant Dean/College of Mining and Safety Engineering) from Shandong University of Science and Technology, China visited the University of Moratuwa on 14th November 2018 and had very successful discussions which would lead to further collaboration between the two universities, especially in the fields of Earth Resources Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, among others.
