Craig H. Blakely, PhD, MPH, Dean, School of Public Health and Information Sciences at the University of Louisville (UoFL), United States visited UOM on 16th May 2017. The potential programs of UoFL for discussion were suggested as MSc Clinical Investigative Science, MS Biostatistics, MPH Concentration in Environmental / Community Health, PhD and Joint Research Projects.
UoM expressed the interest on joint research, publications, and PhDs and Staff and Student exchange programmes. Programme Director (Occupational Safety & Health Management) Dr. (Mrs.) Nayanthara de Silva, Department of Building Economics, Faculty of Architecture said that MSc in Occupational Safety and Health Management program of the University of Moratuwa is the only program in Sri Lanka that produces the highest calibre of academically well trained competent safety practitioners for businesses and industries as well as the government institutions. Accordingly, it was emphasized that UOM needs further discussion with UoFL to obtain their academic support on occupational safety.
The Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies, Prof. Dileeka Dias presided the meeting which was attended by the Dean Faculty of Architecture, Prof. Lalith De Silva, the Director Research, Prof. Priyan Dias, Head, Department of Building Economics, Faculty of Architecture, Dr.(Mrs.) Yasangika Sandanayake and Dr. (Mrs.) Nayanthara de Silva.
