In line with the internationalization strategy of the University of Moratuwa, the Department of Textile and Clothing Technology is collaboratively working with the Birmingham City University (BCU), United Kingdom, as the host institution of a staff mobility project funded by the International Credit Mobility Scheme, Erasmus +. The project enables visiting staff to get actively involved in teaching, learning and assessment activities within the fashion and textile design curriculum. The outgoing UOM staff will also be particularly benefitted by the social, cultural and fashion consumer exposure which are essential for teaching in B. Design programme. The incoming BCU academic staff will be exposed to the strong export apparel manufacturing culture in Sri Lanka .
This project has been coordinated by Dr. Dilusha Rajapakse (BCU), and Dr. Sumith Gopura (UOM) under the guidance of Prof. Gihan Dias, Director, International Relations (UOM) and Prof. Samudrika Wijayapala, Head of the Department of Textile and Clothing Technology. The first mobility under this project was successfully completed by Dr. Jayamali De Silva visiting BCU for three weeks between February and March 2020.
