Project is funded by the Nanyang Environmental and Water Resources Institute (NEWRI), Singapore. Sri Lankan partners are DCPE, UOM lead by Dr. Sanja Gunawardena and Prof. P.G. Rathnasiri and Dr. Sudarshana Fernando from International Water Management Institute (IWMI). The project launched with the aim of implementing a sludge treatment facility by applying anaerobic digestion to the existing municipal septage treatment plant in Kurana, Negombo. This project team expects that this will act as a replicable model plant in fecal sludge management for other municipalities in Sri Lanka.
