Industrial visits in undergraduate programs provide students with valuable firsthand exposure to real-world industrial processes, operational challenges, and professional work environments, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications while enhancing their technical skills, industry awareness, and career readiness. As such, we have incorporated industrial visits as an essential component in the delivery of each semester. In alignment with CH4255 – Renewable Energy, we organized a visit on March 3, 2025, to two renewable energy plants: the 1 MW floating solar plant at Kiriibban Wewa and the 1 MW mini hydro plant at Urubokka. Lecturers attached to the Department, Dr. Duleeka Gunarathna, Dr. Thushara Subasinghe, Dr. Dilhara Sethunga, and Dr. Hiran Chathuranga accompanied the visit. We sincerely appreciate the support provided by the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority in facilitating this valuable opportunity, as well as the engineers and technicians at the sites who made a tremendous effort to explain the processes in detail to our cohort of 14 eager young engineering students.
