- Professor Ajith de Alwis appointed as the President of Sri Lanka Pugwash Group
Senior Professor Ajith de Alwis of the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, University of Moratuwa was appointed as the President of Sri Lanka Pugwash Group, which is part of the Global Pugwash. This organization aims to develop and support the use of scientific, evidence-based policymaking, focusing on areas where nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction risks are present. The mission of Pugwash is to “diminish the part played by nuclear arms in international politics and, in the longer run, to eliminate such arms”.
