The Department of Chemical and Process Engineering is pleased to announce that Prof. Thushara Subasinghe has been nominated by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Moratuwa, on the recommendation of the Head of the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, to serve as a member of the Technical Advisory Committee on Petroleum Products, convened by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI).
Prof. Subasinghe attended the inaugural meeting of the committee on 18th February 2026, marking the formal commencement of this important national task.
The committee has been established with the mandate to revise the existing Sri Lanka Standards for petroleum products. As the national standards body, the Sri Lanka Standards Institution will lead this process by pre-formulating draft standards, which will then be subjected to rigorous review by a panel of technical experts. This approach is designed to ensure broad stakeholder participation and informed decision-making, with the goal of producing a user-friendly and comprehensive final standard.
The committee will convene on a monthly basis and as required by urgent developments.
