Prof. Thilini U. Ariyadasa Delivers Invited Talks on Microalgae-Integrated Resource Recovery at International Conferences

Prof. Thilini U. Ariyadasa from the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering at the University of Moratuwa delivered three invited talks on the theme of "Microalgae-Integrated Resource Recovery from Waste Streams for Bioremediation and Sustainable Production" at prestigious international conferences in India. These included the International Conference on Innovations in Biotechnology for Sustainability (IBS-2024) in New Delhi, International Conference on Advances in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics (ICABB-2024) in Pune, and Emerging Approaches in Risk Analysis and Translational Aspects of Health and Environment (EARTH-2024) in Lucknow, which took place from 23rd November to 1st December 2024. The presentations were followed by Q&A sessions, engaging in-depth discussions on the latest scientific advancements in the field of microalgae.

At all three conferences, Prof. Ariyadasa served as a member of the jury panel for poster presentations of emerging young scholars. Additionally, she co-chaired several technical sessions namely, Wastewater Treatment & Resource Recovery at IBS-2024 in New Delhi, Food Biotechnology at ICABB-2024 in Pune, and Hazard Identification, Characterization, and Risk Analysis at EARTH-2024 in Lucknow.

In her talks, Prof. Ariyadasa underscored the transformative potential of microalgae in addressing the most pressing global challenges. She emphasized how microalgae can play a pivotal role in integrated resource recovery from waste streams, facilitating bioremediation while simultaneously producing high-value bioactive compounds.
