The 1st International Symposium on Green Industry Initiative for Sustainable Industrial Development (ISGSD 2024) was successfully organized as a parallel event to the International Industry Expo - 2024 exhibition. This landmark event, hosted at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo, was spearheaded by the Ministry of Industries, Sri Lanka, and the Industrial Development Board, Sri Lanka.
Under the theme "Go Green Industry," ISGSD 2024 brought together industry leaders, researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss and promote sustainable industrial practices. The symposium featured 10 primary tracks, each focusing on critical aspects of green industry initiatives.
Prof. Shantha Egodage, Head of the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, served as the session chair for the symposium track “Energy Efficiency in Industry.” Additionally, Prof. Egodage was also a member of the selection committee for the Green Industry Initiative Awards 2024 held in conjunction with the exhibition and symposium.
