Inauguration Ceremony of the Master of Energy for Circular Economy (MECE) Program – 2025/2026 Intake

The inauguration ceremony of the Master of Energy for Circular Economy (MECE) program for the 2025/2026 intake (3rd intake) was successfully held on 27th May 2025 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH).

The Keynote Address was delivered by Prof. Torsten Fransson, Professor Emeritus and Chair in Heat and Power Technology at The Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden, who shared valuable global perspectives on energy systems and circular economy practices.

A special address on the Renewable Energy Systems track, offered in the second year of the MECE program was delivered by Prof. J.M.A. Manatunga, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Moratuwa. This track aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to tackle challenges in the energy transition and circular economy fields.

The Department of Chemical and Process Engineering at the University of Moratuwa, the department offering for the program, was represented by its academic team, who participated in the event, underscoring their commitment to nurturing future leaders in clean energy and sustainability. The inauguration marked the beginning of an exciting journey for the new cohort of MECE students, who are set to make a meaningful impact in the global energy landscape.
