Dr. Kamal Fernando, an alumnus of the University of Moratuwa, visited the department on February 18, 2025. As a former academic staff member of the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering (DCPE) until his departure in 1991, he played a key role in planning the equipment layout for the Polymer Processing Laboratory. He also contributed to drafting specifications and procuring polymer processing equipment under JICA grants, some of which are still in use today. Notably, Dr. Fernando was a lecturer to many of the senior academics currently serving in the department.]
