We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Dilhara Sethunga, Senior Lecturer (Grade II) in the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, from April 2025, as the new coordinator for the Master of Science in Energy for Circular Economy (MECE) program at University of Moratuwa. Dr. Sethunga succeeds Dr. Duleeka Gunarathna, who has held this position since the inception of the program in 2023.
The MECE is a fully online, two-year postgraduate program jointly offered by The Open University of Sri Lanka, University of Moratuwa, University of Peradeniya, and University of Ruhuna, under the Europe–Sri Lanka Capacity Building in Energy Circular Economy (EUSL-Energy) project. The initiative is developed in collaboration with three European higher education institutions—Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden), CentraleSupélec (France), and University of Twente (Netherlands). Dr. Sethunga will lead all coordinations related to University of Moratuwa in the program.
Dr. Sethunga earned her PhD from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in 2020. Her research focused on innovative membrane technologies for methane recovery from anaerobic reactor effluents. She brings valuable expertise in circular energy engineering, energy systems, and sustainable process design to this role.
