The Department of Chemical and Process Engineering successfully conducted the DICB Meeting - 2026 on 22nd September 2026 at the Board Room - Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, bringing together key industry stakeholders to strengthen collaboration between the Department and the industrial sector.
The meeting was attended by around 20 representatives from a diverse range of industries, including industrial training providers, employers, and alumni of the Department. Their participation provided a valuable platform to share industry perspectives, discuss current and emerging industrial requirements, and strengthen the alignment between academic programmes and the evolving needs of the chemical and process engineering profession.
The active engagement of industry representatives, training providers, employers, and alumni provided valuable insights into industry expectations, graduate competencies, professional skills, industrial training, and opportunities for strengthening university–industry collaboration.
The meeting was facilitated by Prof. Manisha Gunasekera, Head of the Department, while Senior Prof. Shantha Amarasinghe, Senior Prof. P. G. Rathnasiri, and Prof. Shantha Walpalage contributed as moderators. Prof. Thushara Subasinghe, Dr. Mahinsasa Rathnayake, Dr. Tharushi Keerthisinghe, and Dr. Kalindu Fernando presented respective sections of the meeting, facilitating constructive discussions with the industry representatives.
The Department gratefully acknowledges the valuable contributions and active participation of all industry representatives and other stakeholders who attended the meeting, including Mr. Roy Sankaranarayana, the Director - Industrial Training Division, Faculty of Engineering, University of Moratuwa.
Special appreciation is also extended to Dr. Mahinsasa Rathnayake, Dr. Bandara Dissanayake, and Mr. Pasindu Jayathissa for organizing the event and coordinating the arrangements.
The Department looks forward to continuing this constructive engagement with its industry partners and alumni towards the continuous improvement of its academic programmes, enhancement of graduate competencies, and strengthening of university–industry linkages.
