The Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, University of Moratuwa, successfully concluded ChemEICon 2025, the International Research Conference on Chemical and Process Engineering, bringing together academics, researchers, and industry professionals from Sri Lanka and overseas.
Held on 16th December 2025 at the University of Moratuwa, under the theme “Emerging Frontiers in Process Engineering: Advancing Towards Greener Horizons,” the conference created a vibrant platform for sharing research, exchanging ideas, and building collaboration on sustainability-driven engineering solutions.
The conference was chaired by Dr. Dilhara Sethunga and ceremonially opened with addresses by senior university leadership. Two distinguished keynote speakers — Prof. Sachin Mandavgane (VNIT Nagpur, India) and Dr. Patrick Leaney (IChemE, UK) — delivered inspiring talks on sustainable technologies, engineering leadership, and future industrial transitions.
The technical programme included three focused sessions on sustainable biomaterials, environmental systems and energy transition, and process modelling, AI, and circular systems. An awards ceremony recognised outstanding research contributions and celebrated academic excellence.
The success of ChemEICon 2025 was made possible through the strong support of the organising committee, volunteers, and generous sponsors from industry.
ChemEICon 2025 strengthened the connection between academia and industry and was warmly appreciated by all participants.
