Analytical instrumentation is vital for proper measurement and characterization of chemicals/materials. The analytical Instrument Centre of the DCPE consists of advanced modern analytical measurements, including the Gas Chromatograph (GC), High-Performance Liquid Chromatograph (HPLC), Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC), Particle Size Analyser, and UV-Vis Spectrophotometer. This centre provides a combination of testing facilities for academic and industrial research purposes.
Both undergraduates and postgraduates experience the techniques used in qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis related to their subject modules and research projects by using the instruments in the Analytical Instrument Centre. For instance, they learn to identify the unknown components in a mixture and to determine the relative amounts of the components therein. Further, they can analyze the progress of a reaction.
