Free open online training programme on Trainee - Full Stack Developer University of Moratuwa

University of Moratuwa (UoM) is offering a six-month online program “free of charge” that would qualify the student as a Trainee - Full Stack Developer to be employed in the fast-growing Computing Industry of Sri Lanka especially for all students who have completed their A level exams in February 2022.

Faculty of Business, University of Moratuwa becomes the Winners at the Grand Finale of Infinity Season 3 :2021 / 2022

Infinity is the biggest inter-university Business Case study competition in the university arena in Sri Lanka organized by the Department of Commerce, Faculty of Management and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. The season -3 of this was held in three rounds from December 2021 - February 2022 and participated by more than 30 teams representing both State and non-state universities. The challenge was to craft an innovative strategy and propose a national level action plan to enhance the productivity of the Horticulture sector in Sri Lanka.

The University of Moratuwa becomes the Champions at “AdCon 2021” Inter University Advertising Competition

A team of the undergraduates of the 2020 Intake of the Faculty of Business, the University of Moratuwa won the Championship of the ADCON 2021 Inter-University Advertisement competition, which was held on 19th November 2021 at the 80 Club of Colombo. The event was organized by the Department of Marketing, Faculty of Management and Finance of the University of Ruhuna.

Mr. SASIRANGA DE SILVA APPOINTED TO THE UNEP TECHNICAL COMMITTEE OF THE GLOBAL ELECTRIC MOBILITY PROGRAMME

Mr. Sasiranga De Silva; an academic staff member of the Department of Mechanical Engineering is appointed as a Technical Committee member to the Global Thematic Working Group of Electric Two and Three-Wheelers, which is part of UNEP's Global Electric Mobility Programme.

TEAM FALCON E REACHES TOP 20 IN VINUNIVERSITY GLOBAL CASE COMPETITION 2021

Team Falcon E, a group of students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, representing the University of Moratuwa has emerged as one out of best 20 teams in VinUniversity Global Case Competition (VGCC) hosted by VinUniversity, Hanoi, Vietnam. The awards ceremony was held on 4th of December 2021 (virtually) with the participation of more than 500 contestants from 30 countries.

Team STIMULUS of University of Moratuwa wins a FIRST PRIZE at the 3rd Regional Association of Energy and Power Universities (RAEP) Energy and Electricity Market Business Decision Simulation Competition 2021

The team (STIMULUS) represented by the University of Moratuwa won a FIRST PRIZE at the 3rdRegional Association of Energy and Power Universities (RAEP) Energy and Electricity Market Business Decision Simulation Competition 2021 organized by the Shanghai University of Electric Power (SUEP), Shanghai, China and the Batangas State University, Philippines. The competition was held online this year. Opening ceremony of the competition was held on 7th September 2021. The completion had several rounds.

Chemical and Process Engineering students win at AIChE annual conference

A team of Level 3 undergraduates from the Department of Chemical & Process Engineering, Faculty of Engineering University of Moratuwa represented Sri Lanka at the ChemE-Sports competition organized by Petroskills Inc. in collaboration with American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), the largest chemical engineering body in the world, at its Annual Student Conference, Boston, USA.

MORATUWA STUDENTS WIN NATIONAL PAVILION DESIGN AT EXPO 2020 DUBAI AND SECURE AN INTERNATIONAL SPONSORSHIP FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE SRI LANKA PAVILION

For the first time in EXPO exhibition history, countries were given the opportunity of designing their national pavilion through a design competition organized by EXPO Dubai 2020 (which was planned for 2020- 2021, however, due to the pandemic situation, was held in 2021-2022). The competition was organized through the Creative Youth Program of the exhibition, which aimed at empowering, engaging, and involving youth in national innovation endeavours.

Prabathiya Herath becomes the Sri Lankan Champion in IMechE SOFE Competition 2021

Mr. Prabathiya Herath, a student from the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DoME), representing the University of Moratuwa (UoM) became the Sri Lankan Champion of Speak Out for Engineering (SOfE) competition 2021, organized by IMechE Sri Lanka Group. Mr. Ranuka Perera from Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) became the runner-up in the competition.
