Prof. Buddhika Jayasekara has been appointed as the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering with effect from 20th October 2025
Prof. Jayasekara graduated from the University of Moratuwa with a B.Sc. Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering and completed his M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the same university in 2004 and 2006, respectively. He pursued his Ph.D. in Robotics and Intelligent Systems at the University of Saga, Japan, in 2010.
He is actively involved in research projects such as intelligent mobile robots for domestic environments, intelligent wheelchairs, and other artificial intelligence applications. His main research interests include human–robot interaction, service robotics, intelligent systems, and AI applications in electrical engineering. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE.
