Dr. Dinithi Herath from the University of Moratuwa Receives Prestigious Paediatric Interventional Radiology Scholarship

Dr. Dinithi Herath, a Lecturer in the Department of Anatomy at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Moratuwa, has been honored with the Paediatric Interventional Radiology Scholarship for Member-in-Training 2024. This esteemed award, presented by the Society for Paediatric Interventional Radiology (SPIR), recognizes exceptional potential in the field of pediatric interventional radiology.

Professor Arun Kumar Sangaiah visited the University of Moratuwa

A distinguished professor from the School of Computer Science and Engineering at the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), India; Prof. Arun Kumar Sangaiah visited the University of Moratuwa on 1st April 2024. He holds a Ph.D. from the School of Computer Science and Engineering at VIT University, Vellore. He is currently working for the National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, Taiwan. His visit was coordinated by Prof. Sisil Kumarawadu and Prof. Buddhika Jayasekara of Department of Electrical Engineering of university of Moratuwa.

Exploring Study and Research Opportunities in Germany: E-Visit to the University of Moratuwa with DAAD Sri Lanka

On Friday, 05th of April, 2024, Ms. Nimaya Manudewa, Regional Officer of the Information Point in Colombo for the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service), conducted an engaging online session for the staff and students of the University of Moratuwa. The session was focused on highlighting various studies, research, and scholarship opportunities available in Germany. During the virtual visit, Ms. Manudewa provided comprehensive information on studying and researching in Germany, including details on post-doctoral opportunities and available scholarships. The session concluded with a question and answer segment, giving opportunity for the participants to get clarified any doubts and also to gather more information on available opportunities.

Prof. Ruwan Gopura Appointed as the dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies

Professor Ruwan Gopura has been appointed as the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University of Moratuwa with effect from 20.01.2024. Prof. Gopura has been an integral part of the university community since 2010 when he joined as a Senior Lecturer. His journey within the University saw him progress through various key positions, including Professor, Director of Research, and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering as well as Head of the Department of Medical Technology, Faculty of Medicine.

COMMENCEMENT OF THE OFFICIAL DUTIES OF THE NEW YEAR - 2024

The University of Moratuwa commenced official duties of the New Year on 1st January 2024 by hoisting of the National Flag followed by the National Anthem and remembering the war heroes who sacrificed their lives for the motherland. Subsequently, the academic, administrative, and non-academic staff of the University took the Oath of Public Servants, led by the Vice-Chancellor, setting the tone for a year of commitment and excellence in service.

Commemorating 50 Years of Excellence: University of Moratuwa Unveils Special Stamp and First Day Cover

On 13th December 2023, the Philatelic Bureau of Sri Lanka issued a commemorative stamp marking the 50 years of excellence and remarkable journey of the University of Moratuwa. Established as the 'Ceylon College of Technology (CCT)' at Katubedda, the University earned its University status as the 'Katubedda Campus' of the University of Ceylon on 15th February 1972.
