The Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Moratuwa, proudly congratulates Senior Professor Nalin Kumara Wickramarachchi on being conferred the title of Emeritus Professor, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to academia, research, and national development.
Professor Wickramarachchi’s distinguished career spans over four decades of dedicated service to the University. An alumnus of the University of Moratuwa, he graduated with First Class Honours in Electrical Engineering and later pursued postgraduate studies at Imperial College, University of London, and the University of British Columbia, Canada. His research contributions, particularly in Artificial Intelligence applications and control systems, have been widely recognized.
He has made significant contributions to teaching and curriculum development, including the introduction of Artificial Intelligence into undergraduate education, and has been actively involved in postgraduate teaching in Control Systems and related areas. He has also held several key leadership roles, including Head of the Departments of Computer Science & Engineering and Electrical Engineering, and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.
The conferment of the Emeritus Professorship is a fitting tribute to his lifelong dedication, leadership, and service. The Department extends its heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for his continued good health and success in all his future endeavors.
