Prof. W. D. Prasad Honoured with President’s Award for Scientific Research – 2025

The Department of Electrical Engineering proudly congratulates Prof. W. D. Prasad on being conferred the President’s Award for Scientific Research – 2025, organized by the National Research Council of Sri Lanka.
The award ceremony was held on 18 December 2025 at the Waters Edge Hotel, under the auspices of the Ministry of Science and Technology. The President’s Awards for Scientific Research are presented annually to recognize outstanding scientific contributions made by Sri Lankan researchers, as evidenced by high-quality, peer-reviewed scientific publications.
At the 2025 award ceremony, recognition was accorded to researchers whose scientific publications published in 2021 demonstrated exceptional excellence and significant scholarly impact.
Prof. Prasad received this prestigious national recognition for his research publication in IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, titled:
“Review on Oscillatory Instability in Power Grids with Renewables: Monitoring, Analysis and Control Using Synchrophasor Technology.”
This achievement reflects Prof. Prasad’s significant contribution to advancing research in power systems stability, renewable energy integration, and synchrophasor-based monitoring and control technologies.
The Department of Electrical Engineering extends its sincere congratulations to Prof. W. D.
