Prof. Sisil Kumarawadu has been bestowed with an honorary position of Overseas Distinguished Professor in the College of Electronics and Information Engineering of the Shanghai University of Electric Power (SUEP). Founded in 1951, the 12 distinct Collages of SUEP are engaged in a broad spectrum of electric power engineering research ranging from novel concepts of prime movers in the power plants to power systems cybersecurity. UoM and SUEP have already made important progress in terms of joint research initiatives that include setting up of a Smart Energy Efficient Buildings Joint Research Lab. Prof. Kumarawadu is currently a Senior Professor in Electrical Engineering and the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Moratuwa.
