Prof. Lidula N. Widanagama Arachchige of the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Moratuwa, delivered an online workshop titled "Mastering the Art of Conference Paper Writing: From Concept to Publication" on 9 June 2026. The workshop was organized by the IET Sri Lanka Section as a pre-conference event for the IET Annual Technical Conference 2026.
The well-attended session brought together an enthusiastic audience of undergraduate and postgraduate engineering students, researchers, academics, and industry professionals.
Designed to strengthen research communication and scholarly writing skills, the workshop provided participants with practical guidance on preparing high-quality conference papers for publication in internationally recognized conferences.
Drawing on her extensive experience as a researcher, academic, and reviewer for many reputed indexed journals, Prof. Widanagama Arachchige guided participants through the complete conference paper writing process—from identifying a novel research contribution and organizing a compelling manuscript to presenting technical content effectively and addressing reviewers' expectations. The session also highlighted common pitfalls in technical writing and shared best practices for improving the quality and impact of research publications.
The workshop was highly interactive, featuring engaging discussions and a lively question-and-answer session that enabled participants to seek expert advice on various aspects of academic writing and the publication process.
