The Electrical Engineering Department newly constructed dark room and reverberation chamber facility was opened by Professor, K.K.C.K Perera, former VC of University of Moratuwa on 29th July 2020. Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Professor N. K. Wickramarachchi, Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Professor S. Kumarawadu, Professor A. Wijayapala, Dr. R. Wijesiriwardana and Dr. V. Logeeshan also attended the event. The lab was donated and constructed by Sanken PVT Ltd for the industrial contribution by Dr. R. Wijesiriwardana. The construction was supervised and carried out according to the design of Dr. R. Wijesiriwardana.
Currently Lab is opened to the industry and for research activities. This laboratory is capable of testing power, power factor, harmonics, lux level, color temperature and CRI. Moreover, multiple lights and light fittings measurements can be done up to 10m distance (street lights). Acoustics reverberation chamber is capable of testing sound absorption coefficient of acoustics panels, carpets, and sound proofing materials.
