Dr. Rasara Samarasinghe, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Moratuwa, has been appointed as the Director of the Engineering Research Unit (ERU) of the University of Moratuwa.
Established in the late 1980s, the Engineering Research Unit plays a pivotal role in promoting and supporting research within the Faculty of Engineering. The ERU facilitates research dissemination, fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, and strengthens the University’s research culture by enhancing the quality, visibility, and impact of research. The Unit also supports academic staff and postgraduate research activities across the Engineering Faculty.
Dr. Samarasinghe obtained her BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Moratuwa and completed her PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering at RMIT University, Australia. Her research contributes to advancing engineering knowledge with practical relevance to national and industry needs. In addition to her research work, she actively engages in academic supervision and mentoring.
Her appointment further strengthens the leadership of the Engineering Research Unit and reflects the University of Moratuwa’s continued commitment to research excellence, innovation, and meaningful engagement with industry and society.
