The Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Moratuwa officially welcomed its 2024 intake on 8th September 2025 at the Department Seminar Room. The ceremony featured opening remarks by Dr. Rasara Samarasinghe, Semester 2 Coordinator, followed by an address from the Head of Department, Prof. Anura Wijayapala, highlighting the department’s vision, opportunities, and student responsibilities.
A special highlight was the guest lecture by Eng. Manjula Perera, Managing Director of WindForce PLC and alumnus of the department, who shared his professional journey and inspired students to embrace innovation and leadership in renewable energy development. Academic staff members offered guidance and advice, while EESoc Secretary Ms Gethara De Alwis introduced the society’s role in enriching student life.
The event concluded with a lively Q&A session and closing remarks, officially welcoming the new batch and setting a tone of inspiration, community, and academic excellence for the year ahead.
