The MSc in Electrical Installations program has been designed to provide the opportunity for engineering graduates to extend and update their knowledge and skills in the area of Electrical Installations with a particular emphasis on Design Aspects, Protective Measures,Maintenance, and Trouble-shooting of Electrical Installations, Lighting Design, Lightning Protection and Earthing, and Air Conditioning, Ventilation and Fire Safety. The program covers some more modules related to the field and discusses evolving issues that are of great importance in the field of Electrical Installations.

All lectures and examinations will normally be conducted on weekends during the first year of the course. In the second year of study, students undertake an individual research project of one-year duration on a part-time basis leading to a dissertation. Those candidates who successfully complete the credit requirement in the first year and the research project in the second year will be awarded the Degree of Master of Science in Electrical Installation.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Degree of Bachelor of the Science of Engineering of the University of Moratuwa specializing in Electrical Engineering ;
OR
- The Degree of Bachelor of the Science of Engineering of the University of Moratuwa specializing in Mechanical/ Electronics/ Computer Engineering with a minimum period of one year Electrical Engineering post-qualifying experience, as approved by the Senate;
OR
- Any other Engineering Degree of at least four years duration, from a recognized University, in a relevant field, as may be approved by the Senate;
OR
- Any recognized category of membership of a recognized Professional Institute, in relevant field obtained through an academic route, with a minimum of one year of post qualifying relevant experience obtained after the membership, as may be approved by the Senate.

Candidates can apply and register for the MSc in Electrical Installation course or the Master of Building Electrical Systems course, and transfer registrations are available as given below. The postgraduate diploma is available as a fallback option.
