The Department offers Business Process Management (BPM) specialisation in the Bachelor of Business Science Honours Degree programme. Business Process Management (BPM) specialisation provides competencies (knowledge, skills, and attitudes) to successfully manage business processes in both manufacturing and service industries.
The specialisation provides subject-specific knowledge and skills in the areas of business process management (including process mapping, simulation, reengineering, and outsourcing), operations management, supply chain management, ERP systems, technology management, and project management.
Our goal is to produce competent graduates who will be successful in securing entry-level managerial positions soon after the completion of degree and climbing into higher positions in the managerial ladder within few years of career. So, our graduates will hold job titles such as Process Excellence Manager, Advisor – Process Excellence, Consultant – Business Process Management, Business Process Specialist, Continuous Improvement Specialist, Process Analyst, Application Consultant, Lean Six-Sigma Leaders, etc. In order to nurture graduates to hold these positions, the department has embedded industry exposure sessions within the BPM degree programme and actively seeks to build strong ties with the industry partners.
Further, our graduates are competent in securing opportunities for higher studies in foreign universities for Masters and Doctoral degrees. Thus, the department is continuously working towards strengthening the relationships with foreign universities in the European and Oceania regions.
The BPM curriculum was first introduced in 2017 and was revised in 2022. With the new curriculum BPM specialisation is provided from semester one onwards providing a better chance for
students to familiarise themselves with the specialisation.
