What Makes Graduate Study Unique
Graduate study in Materials Science & Engineering is designed for those who wish to deepen their knowledge, contribute original research, and develop specialized skills. It emphasizes independent research, advanced technical coursework, and close mentorship by faculty.
Admission & Application
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or related field.
- Minimum GPA requirement (or equivalent) and proficiency in key undergraduate coursework (thermodynamics, materials characterization, etc.).
- Proof of English language proficiency (for international applicants).
- Submit application, transcripts, letters of recommendation, statement of purpose, and CV/résumé.
- Deadline: Specify the application deadline for Master’s and PhD programs.
Master’s vs PhD: Structure & Requirements
Master’s Program
Typically 1–2 years of coursework + research (thesis or project option). Students may take advanced electives and are expected to engage in seminars and workshops.
PhD Program
PhD involves 3–5 years of original research, comprehensive exams, publication expectations, and a dissertation defense. Close collaboration with faculty on high-impact research topics.
Research Focus & Facilities
- Advanced Functional Materials & Nanostructures
- Materials for Energy Conversion & Storage
- Smart & Bio-Interactive Materials
- Computational Materials Science & Data Analytics
- Sustainable & Recyclable Materials Processes
Our research labs are equipped with high-resolution electron microscopes, X-ray diffraction facilities, advanced spectroscopy labs, high-performance computing clusters, and prototyping workshops that support both experimental and computational research.
Professional Development & Careers
Teaching & Mentorship
Graduate students often serve as teaching assistants, lead lab sections, or mentor undergraduates — enhancing leadership and communication skills.
Publishing & Conferences
Students are encouraged and supported to publish in peer-reviewed journals, present at both national and international conferences, and engage in collaborative research workshops.
