The M.Sc. programme is designed to enhance the knowledge of materials science of those with engineering or physical science background in order to meet the demands of the industry and to contribute to the socio-economic development of the country. The programme is conducted part-time, enabling students to continue their career while gaining further knowledge and qualify cations.
Teaching is carried out by well-experienced staff together with academics from other universities and institutions. Visiting lecturers from the industry are also invited to teach industrial related modules.
All lectures, practical sessions, presentations, industrial visits and examinations will be conducted during weekends. This programme consists of a combination of compulsory modules and elective modules and a research project. The project is only available for studies towards M.Sc. Its main objective is to provide training in techniques that re essential for research and development work and problem solving in the industry.
Entry Requirements:
A person is eligible to follow this course if he/she has one of the following: The Degree of the Bachelor of Science of Engineering of the University of Moratuwa;
OR
Any other four-year degree in engineering, science or technology in a relevant field from a recognized university;
OR
Any other three-year degree in engineering, science or technology in a relevant field from a recognized university with a minimum of one year’s appropriate experience;
OR
Any recognized category of membership of a professional institution, obtained through an academic route, and a minimum of one year of appropriate experience after obtaining such membership.
