Recognizing outstanding academic and research contributions at the University of Moratuwa.

Vice Chancellor’s Award

Requirement: Minimum 18.0 marks from Type 1 publications (three Q1 full papers). Awarded to one recipient annually.

Outstanding Researcher Award – With Distinction

Requirement: Minimum 9.0 marks, including at least 6.0 marks from Type 1 or Type 2 publications.

Outstanding Researcher Award

Requirement: Minimum 6.0 marks, with at least 3.5 marks from publications of Types 1–5.

Evidence for Q1–Q4 classification should be verified using Scimago Journal Rank or Clarivate/Scopus. Supporting documentation is required for all claims. Rounding up of marks is allowed up to 0.5 marks where applicable.

Method 1 – Web-based Submission

Submit via the Research Awards web portal. Include all supporting documents and declarations (Appendices B & C). The Evaluation Panel will assess the submissions based on evidence.

Method 2 – SRC Data-Mining Assistance

The SRC may extract publication data using institutional databases. Applicants must verify extracted data and upload any missing evidence before finalization.

Eligibility Summary

  • Awards are based on marks obtained for a single evaluation year.
  • Eligible: All permanent academic staff and Assistant Librarians and above.
  • Publications must bear a valid University of Moratuwa affiliation and official email address.
  • Only publications made while in service at UoM are considered.
  • Supporting documents (screenshots, acceptance letters, etc.) must be attached with the application.
