The Convocation for Postgraduate Degrees of the University of Moratuwa in 2024 was a celebration of academic achievement and scholarly excellence. Held on 25th March 2024 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), the ceremony was a testament to the dedication and hard work of the graduands.
Presided over by the esteemed Chancellor of the University, Professor Monte Cassim, the Convocation Ceremony was graced by the presence of graduands, their proud parents, distinguished invitees, as well as the esteemed academic and administrative staff of the University.
A total of 317 graduands were conferred with Postgraduate Degrees and Diplomas during the Convocation. This included 227 graduands from the Faculty of Engineering, with 9 doctoral students among them. The Faculty of Architecture conferred 42 Postgraduate Degrees and Diplomas while the Faculty of Business conferred 41 Postgraduate Degrees and Diplomas. Additionally, 7 Postgraduate Degrees and Diplomas were conferred upon graduands of the Faculty of Information Technology, including 1 PhD.

The University of Moratuwa boasts an outstanding faculty, with more than 80% of senior academic staff holding doctoral degrees from esteemed Universities around the world. This, coupled with numerous international research collaborations, provides a unique and enriching experience for postgraduate students. The University currently offers more than 50 postgraduate degrees across its Faculties of Architecture, Business, Engineering, and Information Technology.
Students seeking to undertake research degrees can do so through the Faculty of Graduate Studies, which offers six research degrees: Master of Science (with a major component of research), Master of Philosophy (MPhil.), Doctor of Philosophy (PhD.) and three Multidisciplinary Research degrees across its Architecture, Business, Engineering and Information Technology Faculties.
