About our EDUROAM Policy
Currently the legal, policy, and technical infrastructure for the national eduroam service is still being developed. University of Moratuwa has chosen to participate in this development and to be an early adopter of eduroam as a service to our faculty and staff and aspects of this service and policy may change over time.
Access
Access to the University of Moratuwa instance of eduroam is a privilege and not a right . It may be revoked at anytime at the discretion of director, CITeS.
Access to the eduroam SSID will be granted to any user of an academic institution participating in the eduroam consortium. For a list of participating institutions, visit eduroam-Sri Lanka and eduroam-International.
Rights and Responsibilities
UoM faculty and staff are obligated to adhere to the Appropriate Use Policy of both the UoM and that of the visited institution. Users are obligated to familiarize themselves with the equivalent AUP of any institution they visit.
Visitors to the University of Moratuwa are obligated to adhere to the Appropriate Use Policy of both UoM and that of their home institution.
Users are obligated to authenticate to the eduroam service using the credentials (network ID and password) provided by their home institution that uniquely identifies them. Using incorrect, borrowed, stolen, or other non-identifying credentials will result in a loss of eduroam access and be reported to the user's home institution.
Support
- Support for UoM Faculty and Staff in other locations
UoM faculty, staff, and students should not rely on the visited institution for support in troubleshooting network access with eduroam. Visited institutions are not obligated nor prepared to support visitors accessing eduroam. UoM Center for IT Services (CITeS) will coordinate with the visited institution's technical staff, if necessary to resolve connectivity or other networking problems.
