BRU Director

Dr. Prasanna Illankoon is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Management of Technology and is the Director, Business Research Unit, University of Moratuwa. He is also an Adjunct Lecturer at the Luleå University of Technology, Sweden. Prasanna works as an associate editor for the International Journal of System Assurance Engineering and Management - Springer and Prevention & Ergonomics Journal – University of Algeria. Prasanna carries twenty years of experience in management, engineering, and research in local and multinational organisations. Prasanna holds a bachelor’s in production engineering from the University of Peradeniya, an MBA in Management of Technology from the University of Moratuwa, and a PhD from the Luleå University of Technology, Sweden. Prasanna is a member of the Institution of Industrial and System Engineers (USA) and an associated member of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka.

Dr. (Ms.) Asanka Gunawardana is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Decision Sciences and currently, the Secretary of the Business Research Unit at the Faculty of Business at the University of Moratuwa. She earned her BSc (Special) in Mathematics from the University of Kelaniya (UOK), MSc in Statistics from Sam Houston State University (SHSU), USA, and PhD in Statistics from The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), USA. She has held several teaching and research positions, including as a research associate at the Institute of Biometry and Clinical Epidemiology at Charite-Berlin University of Medicine, Germany, and teaching positions at UTD, SHSU, and UOK. Her research interests include Mathematical Probability and Statistics, Nonparametric and Semiparametric Modeling, Machine Learning and Statistical Learning Theory. She has published several research papers in various academic journals and presented her work at various international, national, and local conferences.
